As part of the “Un Giorno all’Università” (“One Day at University”) initiative, promoted by the University of Turin’s Department of Foreign Languages and Literatures and Modern Cultures, I carried out a dissemination activity aimed at presenting both university life and Erasmus+ opportunities to young students. The initiative is designed to introduce primary and secondary school students to the activities taking place at the university and to inspire them for the future.
The dissemination session was held on Friday, 16 May 2025, at 10:00 a.m., at the Department of Foreign Languages and Literatures and Modern Cultures, in front of a class of 15 middle school students (class II D of the Istituto Comprensivo Alberti-Salgari, Turin).
I began the presentation by sharing my experience from the Training Course “Green Thinking: Changing Habits, Shaping our Future,” which I attended in Bansko, Bulgaria, from 4–12 May 2025, organized by Alternativi International.
After a short introduction, I engaged the students with a quick survey on their daily ecological practices both at school and at home. We then played the Environmental Alphabet Game, using environment-related words in the different languages they study (Italian, English, German, Spanish). This interactive activity was followed by a quiz on environmental issues, which allowed them to test their knowledge while learning new insights.
To conclude, I introduced the concept of the 6Rs of sustainability – Rethink, Refuse, Reduce, Reuse, Repair, Recycle – and shared some practical tips and simple eco-friendly practices that students can adopt in their daily lives to contribute to a greener future.
The activity was lively and interactive, leaving students more aware of how their individual actions matter, while also connecting environmental awareness to language learning in a fun and educational way.
