Personal experience of Kilian from YE ”EMPOWER HER”

1. How was your experience during the project? It was really interesting; it was my first short project, and I didn’t know what to expect. The pedagogical tools worked really well because they pushed all the participants to be involved and to learn new knowledge actively. We all learned something valuable during this week, not only about entrepreneurship but also about identifying opportunities in various areas. This project encouraged us to develop an awareness of ourselves and to understand each other better as individuals. Building connections was a significant part of the experience, as this type of project fosters strong links between participants, creating better relationships. It also helps us to grow personally and professionally by exchanging ideas and building on each other’s knowledge. Overall, it felt like a transformative journey, and I am grateful for the chance to be part of it.

2. What have you learnt /acquired during the project?/knowledge, skills, competences?   I learned a lot about other countries, especially Bulgaria, because I knew very little about it beforehand. I also discovered many opportunities offered by Erasmus projects, which broadened my understanding of international exchanges. Through workshops, we were introduced to inspiring women who have started and run successful businesses, which was both motivational and educational. We participated in debates that not only taught us about important topics but also encouraged us to reflect deeply, providing insight into my own thought processes. Another skill I developed was teamwork, particularly through a workshop where we had to build a startup from an idea all the way to a project pitch for potential investors. This experience taught me about the stages involved in developing a business concept, and it gave me a new perspective on the work that goes into it. Additionally, I learned about the Erasmus partner countries, which include non-EU nations that can still take part in Erasmus programs, adding another layer to my understanding of international collaboration.

3. Describe the project in 3 words only. Building. Entrepreneurship. Mindset.

4. What is the most important thing/s you are taking with you from the project?   It’s really difficult to choose because there are so many things I’ll take with me, but the entrepreneurial mindset is something I will definitely implement deeper in my life. For instance, we learned how crucial it is to embrace failure as a natural part of the journey, as setbacks provide invaluable lessons. We also learned the importance of continuously improving ourselves because the world around us is always changing. Another key takeaway was seeing examples of people who never gave up on their goals, even after facing multiple obstacles, which taught us perseverance. This project also instilled in me a sense of curiosity, encouraging me to always seek knowledge and be open to new ideas. By embracing these values, I hope to apply them in both my personal and professional life. This mindset will serve as a strong foundation for whatever I pursue in the future.

5. What advice woulд you give to other young people who have not taken part in Erasmus plus youth exchanges?  If they don’t know about it, I would start by explaining what Erasmus Plus is and how it offers unique opportunities for growth. For those who are aware of Erasmus, I would try to convince them that it’s a life-changing experience and a great opportunity to learn and connect. If they are considering a project, I would tell them to be fully invested in the experience, to embrace it wholeheartedly, and to remain open to new knowledge and cultures. I’d encourage them to participate actively, to ask questions, and to share their perspectives and ideas because it enhances their understanding. Also, meeting people from different backgrounds is invaluable, as it expands one’s worldview and leads to meaningful friendships. This experience has so much to offer, and the impact it can have on their life is truly lasting.
