Title: Natural Elements- Nature-based training of trainers
Dates: 11-20 April 2018
Place: Rustavi, Georgia
Project description:
Natural Elements is a training course for trainers, youth workers and educators, who like to work in connection with nature, want to develop their facilitation competences and add some special effects to their trainer’s body, mind, heart and spirit through nature based methods.
The training course is developed for people actively involved in education and/or youth work, who already have some experience in non-formal education and experiential learning. The programme is designed for people who are ready to learn, explore, discover and develop their skills, competences and know-how and will be able to use it later in their jobs and communities.
We will work on all the most important aspects of learning activities: programme design, methods and techniques, group dynamics, presentation skills, personality of the trainer, roles and balance in the training team and we will experience it in live situations.
The programme will be flexible and the team will be ready to adapt it following very closely the participants’ needs and expectations for the course. Space will always be open for participants who will want a more active role, taking the initiative and practicing non-formal education by actually doing it.
Objectives of the training:
- Develop skills and knowledge related to effective youth work and training activities with a special emphasis on nature-based and community-based approaches.
- Experience a variety of interactive methods and participant-centered learning processes, such as Way of Council, Open Space, Threshold walk and guided time in nature.
- Challenge some patterns of non formal education through examples and reflections on how concepts such as nature, open communication, art, spirituality, ceremonies and rites of passage can be included in educational and experiential activities.
- Practise the course themes in real situations, learn to give and receive feedback.
Profile of participants:
We are looking for participants who are at the moment actively involved in either education or youth work, preferably both. We also look for people who already have some experience as a trainer/ facilitator, as the course should add some “special effects” to their skills. The course is not intended for complete beginners and newcomers. Participants need to commit to participate in the whole duration of the course (due to funding reasons we cannot allow people arriving later or leaving earlier).
