Number of volunteers: 1 from Bulgaria
Objective: The objective of the proposed activities is to raise awareness of local community and general public about importance of sustainable development, nature conservation and environment protection. Fulfilling this objective will help the volunteers to build competencies for future easier employment. Many of activities in which volunteers will be involved consists of direct work with beneficiaries which will ensure their better integration with local community and culture.
Activities:
- Assist in daily update of youth INFO-point;
- Help in organizing local community events (voluntary actions);
- Help in developing and implementing short EVS project – promo team, dissemination;
- Assist in writing different project proposals;
- Help in regularly update of argonauta.hr;
- Assist in the administration of Facebook profile of the Argonauta association;
- Assist in establish communication with the organizations/institutions in volunteers home countries;
- Translate short announcements for the web in English or mother tongue;
- Promote Argonauta`s profile at social networks;
- Assist in designing, organizing and implementing creative workshops and materials on the topics of environmental protection, marine ecosystems and its biodiversity (children 5-8 years);
- Assist in promoting Argonauta Summer Children Program – creating and putting up posters, leaflet design and dealing daily in Summer months;
- Assist in Argonauta`s presentations at different fairs and festivals in the County;
- Assist in organizing the school in nature activities or Eco-patrol activities (for young people aged 10-14 years);
- Have a creative input in picture books or puppet shows to be released by Argonauta;
- Assist in all other work that is on going in organization;
- Open and update BLOG on EVS experience;
- Help in producing digital media promoting the work of organization and
- Help in dolphin watching summer activities;
- Take part in different workshops organized by Argonauta within other projects;
- Develop personal project according to talents or aspirations.
EVS main tasks:
There are many activities that we plan to involve EVS volunteers in. We can group them as follows:
- Educational Program for Preschool children on sea biodiversity topics – help in developing and implementing
- Eco-patrol Program for primary school students – help in planning and implementing workshops
- Projects and activities promotion – networking with Youth for Environment Europe NGO network for joint campaigns and promote all the activities of the organization online, designing of posters and leaflets, documenting activities (photo, video), running a BLOG etc.
4. Personal project – opportunity to design your own project that would connect volunteer, organisations and local community.
Receiving organization: Argonauta is founded back in 2005, developing since as non-profit organisation for nature and environment conservation and sustainable development promotion (www.argonauta.hr). We are small team of 3 to 4 professional employees based on Island of Murter in village Murter (2000 inhabitants). Our work is project based. Through out different projects we form local, regional, national and international partnerships in order to challenge different environmental issues. Locally we also carry initiatives that include valorisation of cultural heritage (archaeological site Colentum www.colentum.info) We run Island Sustainability Education Program that supports early age nvironmental education inspired with Adriatic sea biodiversity. In new strategic period Argonauta aims at developing social enterprise in tourism destination management.
Practical arrangements:
-Volunteers will live together in the apartment in Murter, fully expensed (internet included). Volunteers will be asked to share accommodation with other volunteers. In off season period volunteers will have single rooms but in main summer season period they will have to move to less cosy/smaller accommodation and share bedroom. Besides this, each of them will receive monthly food and pocket money. Travel costs from and to the sending country will be refunded to the maximum amount according to official Erasmus distance calculator. Accommodation is approx. 10 minutes walk from working place so there is no need to use local transport to commute to work.
Service hours will be different in main summer season period than through the rest of the year:
April-June and September: 8 – 15h (weekends off)
July—August: 8-12h (break) 19 – 22h (weekends or other two days off)
