 Date: Tuesday, 27 May 2025
 Time: 11:30 – 13:00
Participants: 13 professionals from various organisations working with women and vulnerable populations

Overview

This 90-minute introductory workshop on Nonviolent Communication (NVC) brought together 13 participants from diverse organisations. The session aimed to build awareness around NVC as a tool for compassionate dialogue and empower professionals with practical methods for their daily work with vulnerable groups.

Structure

  • Introduction and Team Building:
The session opened with a round of introductions and a short icebreaker to foster connection among participants, followed by a meditation to ground and foster body awareness. This created a supportive and open atmosphere for the learning process.

  • Methodology of NVC:
A brief presentation outlined the four components of NVC: observation, feelings, needs, and requests. Emphasis was placed on empathy, self-expression, and listening without judgment.

  • Playing the Game ‘How are you feeling? What do you need?’:
Participants engaged in a hands-on activity using the game developed during the Training Course to practice identifying needs and feelings behind statements.

  • Debrief and Feedback:
The workshop closed with a group discussion on insights and challenges encountered during the game. Participants shared positive feedback, noting the method’s relevance and practicality for both professional and personal interactions. They appreciated the practicing and having vulnerable and intimate colleagues with fellow professionals.

Key Outcomes

  • Strengthened participant understanding of the NVC process

  • Increased awareness of emotional literacy and empathetic communication

  • Strong engagement and interest in deeper training
