Personal experience of Lucia from TC ”Play & Resolve”

1. What was the most valuable thing you learned during the training course, and how do you plan to use it in your work with young people?

The most valuable thing I learned in the training course is, among other things, how to communicate in a non-violent way, how to express different ideas and how to understand what I feel and how to communicate it to other people. I think this learning is very valuable for my work with young people, as many people do not know the right way to understand what they feel and to express it in a non-violent way and in a way that respects the spirit of peace.

2. How did the use of escape rooms and board games change your perspective on peacebuilding and conflict resolution education?

I think the way in which scape room games have changed my perspective on peace building and conflict resolution education is through the understanding that it is vital to build a game that has two purposes, it must be fun, as it must be of interest to a multitude of people, children and young people among them, but it must also contain a lesson and it must bring value to the person playing it, and that value must be the enhancement of skills for understanding and enacting peaceful conflict resolution.

3. Can you describe a moment during the training that had a strong impact on you, either personally or professionally?

I think the moment of greatest impact for me was when one of my colleagues gave her presentation on the Panic Zone, and the other different zones in which a person’s mentality can go. I found it to be a high impact presentation for people and very educational in self-awareness. In addition, overall the experience seemed to me to have had a strong impact on my perspective of peacebuilding through gamification.

4. Have you already started applying any of the tools or methods from the training in your local context? If yes, what was the response?

I have not yet been able to implement any of the techniques and tools that I have developed during the training course but I believe that I will be able to do so very soon in other courses and volunteering.

5. What would you like to see as a follow-up to this training – additional resources, networking opportunities, or something else?

I think it will be especially interesting that we will then have the possibility to get networking opportunities. The network of people that can be developed for the further exchange of ideas in this kind of courses seems to me something very important and interesting. The cultural exchange and exchange of views that has taken place in this project is absolutely enriching and therefore I think that building a networking network can add great value to the experience. It also seems to me a good opportunity to receive additional resources that can contribute to the development of the skills acquired in this course.
