Dissemination activity under TC “Play & Resolve: Gamified Solutions for Peacebuilding”

On 30/05/2025, a local dissemination workshop took place at Athens, Greece as part of the Play and Resolve: Gamified Solutions for Peacebuilding Erasmus+ Training Course.

Thirteen participants, including youth workers, educators, and game enthusiasts from various age groups, joined the session to explore the role of gamification in peace education. The event began with a short presentation led by Eva Maria Gavgiotaki, introducing the concept of gamification for peacebuilding. The talk covered key principles, real-world examples, and the need for engaging tools to address conflict and promote empathy.

Following the presentation, Panagiota Chouliaraki facilitated a playtest of “Time-Travellers of Peace”, an educational escape room game developed during the Erasmus+ training. In the game, participants took on the role of young peacebuilders, solving puzzles inspired by historical conflicts in an effort to prevent violence and restore peace across eras.

The workshop sparked rich discussion around the game’s design and future potential. One suggestion was to develop Time-Travellers as a broader game series, with different thematic episodes touching on multiple social and educational topics. Participants also proposed removing explicit references to “peace” from the title, allowing players to uncover the deeper message gradually through the experience itself.

The session received enthusiastic feedback overall, with participants highlighting the game’s interactive format and educational value in youth and classroom settings.
